Nobel week
Third week-end of advent is coming up, but yet only rain is given. Where's the snow?! Well, without any snow glistening in the dark, maybe the Nobel Prize will do for glamour instead. Tomorrow at december 10th, the death anniversary of Alfred Nobel, the prizes of 2011 will be awarded and the banquet will be held.
As known the categories are Literature, Physics, Medicine, Chemistry, Economic Sciences and the Nobel Peace prize. This year's winners are a little bit special since the Literature prize is awarded to swedish Tomas Tranströmer, and last time a swede won was 37 years ago. And throughout the years 783 men and 20 organisations but only 40 women has got the prize. However, this year's Peace prize is awarded to three women (Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkol Karman).
During night, the banquet is held in the Blue Hall. It's a classy dinner for the prize-winners, their families, the swedish royalties and some other stylish people. What's on the menu is always top secret until served, and it's served on china composed by 9450 pieces! Usually about 650 litres of mineral water and 300 litres of coffee is consumed. So this is what we can think about (or watch on TV tomorrow), while staring at the rain. But well, what's a royal ball...
