A big blast from the past!
Hi everybody!
I want to send out a big thanks to all of you that could participate under the kick-off and to those who weren't able, because of different factors, we hope you also have had a great week. This semesters kick-off's theme, as many of you noticed, was about music from the 70's (disco), 80's (glam rock) and 90's(pop). But it isn't over yet, now on the 26th of January, Wednesday, it's going to be a sitting. To this sitting you have to have tickets, there are some tickets left to the sitting and these are able to buy in the shop of the School of health sciences. The tickets' cost 150 skr, and the theme of the sitting is “Ops I must be wrong”. Hope that as many as possible can join. After the sitting we leave together to the Akademien, there we're going to party like crazy, it's going to be awesome!
S.U.S.H.I. is going to arrange a "happening" on the 14th of february so make sure you don't have any plans for that day :) We will let you know more about that event in the end of this week.

Time to get ready
Hi everybody!
We want to send out a big thanks to our Internationals and start of by wishing everybody a good continue on the new year. Last year brought us a lot of laughter, fun and also many good memories, that will stay with us for a long time. We in S.U.S.H.I had a great time and hope that it's a feeling that the Internationals share with us and that they would like to come and visit us again. We want to send out a big welcome to our new international students! We're going to have a great time together. The main event that is in front of us is the “kick-off”. The kick-off is a big welcome to all of our new students, it's filled with games, competitions and really great parties! It starts on Monday, the 17th of January and ends on Wednesday the 26th of January. We would like if as many as possible would join in and have fun, meet new people and get to know their classmates. The kick-off is voluntary, but we would recommend you to participate, your not going to regret it. Let's get ready for a good time.

International day
On the 3rd of November it's going to be international day. That means that we in S.U.S.H.I are going to inform students about foreign studies. We're also going to give them a picture of how it can feel to be an exchange student and why they should take the chance. There will be information about the different universities and a bit snacks. We're going to be inside the school of health sciences, at the entrence. Let's share the experience, hope to see you there, take care!

Soon time to bowl!
Time is rolling by and soon it's "bowling time", hope you feel excited and that you're looking forward to it as much as we are. It's going to be alot of fun. We meet up in school, on the 27th of October, wednesday at 17.30 and walk together to the bowling hall. Don't forget to buy a pink ribbon, in the school of health sciences, health shop, this to support breast cancer and second it works as a ticket to get into F.U.S.K.s party. You can buy it in the health shop for 25 kr, on lunch between 12-13. Afterwards we'll join F.U.S.Ks preparty at Enirokällaren. Then for those who want, we can continue to the Akademien and party there untill it closes. Hope to see you all there, so we can party and have a grrrreeeat time!
Big thanks to F.U.S.K for arranging a party in the sign of breast cancer. As many of you know October is the pink month.

Team building
Did someone say "cheese"?:) On Saturday there was a team building, it's purpose is to make the members get to know each other and members from the other student unions. There was a great amount of fun, laughter and excitement! New friends where gained and also memories that will last long. Thanks to those who could attend and for those who had other obligations we wish they could come with us on next "Team building".Peace/ S.U.S.H.I
Day of Health
Hi ladies and gentlemen!
Tomorrow, Wednesday the 6th of October we´ll celebrate the yearly day of Health (Hälsans dag). The event will be held in the entrance of HLK (School of Education and Communication) between 10am and 2pm. Salon Claes will be there to offer cheap haircuts. You could check your blood pressure, do an eye exam and try some of our delicious non-alcoholic drinks. Why not join in one of our many competitions or try our yoga class.
If you fancy just watching there will be plenty of entertainment on stage. Take the chance to see a fashion show or an ass-shaking Zumba performance. At noon our local and nationally renowned celebrity Amy Diamond will sing and dance for you.
If you´re not too busy then why not spend your lunchtime by listening to some nice music and having fun in the name of health.

Kick off week
During your first weeks you will have the opportunity to participate in a kick-off. This event takes place from the 23rd of August to the 1st of September. The kick-off is arrange every semester, for both Swedish and international students. It is a great chance for you to meet and get to know other students. The kick-off contain different types of fun activities that suites many different interests. For example: if you like water we present SWE (Sweden Water Event) which is the biggest water event in Scandinavia. If you are in to music there will be a sing-a-long-night with live music in the park next to the university. If you are in to sports there will different competitions and races. Jönköping University has its own nightclub with two dance floors, a lounge and nice prices in the three different bars. It is called Akademien and it will be open every night during the kick-off. During the semester it is open on Wednesdays and on Fridays afternoons they serve a nice tacobuffé for a good price.
There is a special tradition among students in Jönköping. During the kick-offs and most Wednesdays you wear an overall. The faculties have different colors: Health and Science – white, Engineering – yellow, International Business – green, Education and Communication – red and Media – blue. This overall you can by during the kick-off and it comes with some patches. It is a fun tradition and we really recommend you to take part of it.
We hope you will enjoy your stay in Jönköping and that you will join the kick-off!

volleyball tournament
FUSK is arranging a volleyball tournament the 15th of May. This event will be held on Vätterstranden. S.U.S.H.I will be there and playing with one team. It would be really fun if you guys would like to join with a couple of teams as well. If you don't want to play, join anyway and be cheerleaders! :)
If you want to play: put together a team of a four to five people. Write your names, your team-name and a contact phone number and send a mail to: [email protected] before the 26th of April. You could also find members from FUSK outside the libary lunch-time this friday and monday if you like to ask some questions or sign up for the tournament.

This will be a day with a great mix of cultures, food and a brilliant opportunity to find out more about other universities all around the world. Also every faculty will be represented. Among other things there will also be some performances and a bbq.
So, join us at campus and mingel with all the other students at Jönköping University!!!

Pride "sittning"
"Sittning" means, sort of, a 'get together' for all the students, food and drinks are provided. Of course there will be music and different spex! And after a massive party on Akademin!! :D
The theme of this "sittning" is PRIDE and and in this case it doesn't mean "pride"... For those of you who do not know it, there's a Pride festival organized in Stockholm each year. Stockholm Pride is a gay pride festival held yearly in Stockholm. Since the start in 1998, Stockholm Pride has grown to be one of Stockholm's largest annual festivals, as well as the largest Pride celebration in Scandinavia. Each year Stockholm Pride attracts visitors from both Sweden and the rest of the world. The festival is held in the end of July/beginning of August.
This "sittning" is for once entirely held in English so it would be really fun if you wanted to go!
Tickets cost 140Kr and that includes food and two beers or ciders.
You can buy tickets at the entrance on the international business school between 12-13.
The tickets have already been released so be sure to buy as soon as possible if you want to go!

waffle day
Back in the day this was a Christian holiday dedicated to Our Lady of the Virgin Mary. Lady Day has been reshaped in popular speech to "våffeldagen" (waffle day), which led to the tradition of eating waffles on this day. "Våffeldagen" is therefore still celebrated on March 25, despite the Church's holiday moved to a Sunday. This is a tradition that has continued since the 1600s! For four hundred years it has become something like a national dish. And nowadays you can eat waffles any day you like, not just on "våffeldagen". The very word "våffla" comes from a German word for wax - or honeycomb. This because waffles look similar to bee combs.
Here is a couple of recipes for waffles so you can make swedish specialty on your own;
Recipe for phrase waffles:
Serves 4
4 dl cream
4 dl wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
50 grams melted butter
2 dl of cold water or mineral water
1 / 4 teaspoon salt
Pre-heat the waffle iron. Stir the baking powder and salt into the flour and the flour into the water. Whip the cream and fold into hard flour and water mixture and cooled melted butter. Save a bit of butter to lubricate the hinge with the first few times. Add about 1 dl of butter into the iron at a time. Bake 2-3 minutes. Upload waffles on the grill itself, or serve them directly at any time.
Recipe for waffles with eggs:
2 eggs
1 hg melted margarine
4 dl milk
4.5 dl flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
First you mix the flour and baking powder. Whisk everything together and then let stand about 30 minutes before baking.
