Now it´s Easter holidays for all children and it's time for another Swedish tradition - Ester.
It is a Christian tradition that commemorates Jesus' death, suffering and resurrection.

Easter egg (Påskkärring) is in accordance with Swedish old belief a witch who traditionally flies on her broom to Blåkulla on Maundy Thursday (Skärtorsdagen, yesterday).
Nowadays, it is both boys and girls who dress up as Easter witches. A Påskkärring carrying usually dress, apron and kerchief. Children walk around together, and ring the bell, at people's houses. They give the person who opens the door a small Ester letter that they have drawn themselves, and as thank they hopefully get some candy.

Spring is a time of rebirth. This is celebrated in most cultures through various fertility rituals. Egg symbolizes rebirth and fertility. In the West, eggs belong to traditional Ester food. This is because these chickens, genetically and with little access to food, had residence in egg production during the winter. Production got under way about just in time for Lent, but since you did not eat eggs during Lent that created an excess of eggs to Easter.

In some families they organized small games where the Easter eggs are hidden and the children can look for them in the belief that the Easter Bunny hid Easter eggs. The eggs are made of paper and filled with candy – this tradition takes place on Easter Eve with your relatives/friends when you meet to socialize and to eat a lot of good food together.

We in S.U.S.H.I would like to thank everyone who participated yesterday and helped us to accoplish a great International Day!

Tomorrow it´s time for another Swedish tradition – våffeldagen (waffles).
If you haven´t tried it I can recommend you to try!

Time files and we are approaching summer and tomorrow you should turn the clock one hour forward. We turn the clock one hour forward in the spring to take advantage of the daylight just like when we put the clock back one hour in the winter.

Tomorrow it´s time for our next activity and there is something we want to inform you about. Please wear comfortable clothes, and try to not wear jeans because that can be kind of a problem during your climbing! Also, bring a pair of sneakers, if you don't have a pair you can climb barefoot!

On Thursday we in S.U.S.H.I are going to give you some information about the International Day which will be held on March 28th. We will be offering some refreshments, please join us!

I would also like to inform you that our next activity will be climbing. Date for climbing is 22th of March, please attend to the event before the 19th.

On Thursday morning last week, was born in Sweden's new heir to the throne.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel's daughter.
They should name their daughter to Princess Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary Bernadotte.

Is an old Christian tradition. Day falls 47dagar before Easter and is usually Tuesday after Shrove Sunday. The name Shrove Tuesday is formed from the word "fat" (fet in Swedish) and "Tuesday" (tisdag in Swedish), where bold refers to all the good food that you used to eat on Shrove Tuesday.
According to tradition, there were almost only buns to eat during Lent. To eke out the food, people began to make holes in the buns and put in lots of different goodies. This resulted in the development of a bun with whipped cream and almond paste in.

Have a good Shrove Tuesday and take the opportunity to taste a bun!
